PFAS Free Nanofiber Solution to Replace ePTFE in Filtration and Protective Gear
With growing concerns over the environmental and health impacts of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), industries are increasingly moving towards PFAS-free solutions in filtration technologies. High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) and Ultra-Low Penetration Air (ULPA) filters, traditionally reliant on PFAS-based materials for their superior filtration capabilities, are now subject to heightened scrutiny. Our PFAS-free nanofiber technology offers a groundbreaking alternative that not only meets but exceeds the stringent requirements for filtration performance, all while addressing environmental sustainability and health concerns.
In this presentation, we will showcase Matregenix's PFAS-free HEPA and ULPA nanofiber filter technology, developed specifically to meet the evolving challenges of air filtration across industries such as healthcare, cleanrooms, and industrial manufacturing. This innovation is rooted in advanced nanofiber engineering that balances high filtration efficiency, low pressure drop, and environmental safety.
Our nanofibers are produced through an electrospinning process, which allows for precise control over fiber diameter and distribution. By manipulating these variables, we are able to create highly efficient filters that capture submicron particles, including airborne pathogens, fine dust, and harmful particulates, while maintaining the necessary flow rates and operational efficiencies demanded by modern air filtration systems.
A key component of our approach lies in the functionalization of nanofibers with non-toxic, sustainable polymers, which have been rigorously tested for their chemical resistance, mechanical strength, and ability to maintain performance under real-world conditions. Our PFAS-free membranes exhibit comparable, if not superior, filtration efficiency compared to traditional PFAS-based filters, achieving particulate capture of up to 99.999% for particles as small as 0.1 microns.
This technology is uniquely designed to address two critical challenges faced by current filtration systems: pressure drop and filter longevity. By leveraging the high surface area-to-volume ratio inherent in nanofibers, our filters can achieve high particulate capture without the associated increase in pressure drop. This leads to improved energy efficiency, making our solution ideal for industries aiming to reduce operational costs while maintaining high levels of air quality. Additionally, the durability of the materials used ensures that the filters have an extended lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements and the associated waste.
Beyond the technical advantages, our PFAS-free filters respond to a critical need for safer, more sustainable filtration solutions in the face of global regulations aiming to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of PFAS. The filters have already been validated by third-party testing and meet international standards for HEPA and ULPA filtration.
During this session, we will present detailed performance data, including filtration efficiency, pressure drop metrics, and potential applications. We will also discuss the scalability of our nanofiber manufacturing process, which is optimized for high-volume production, ensuring that this technology can be rapidly deployed across industries facing PFAS-related regulatory challenges.
By eliminating the environmental and health risks associated with PFAS, while delivering superior performance, Matregenix's PFAS-free nanofiber technology stands at the forefront of the next generation of air filtration solutions, demonstrating that innovation can effectively meet the current challenges in filtration.
